چکیده

Background: The SNP of the leptin receptor (Lys656Asn) has been related with metabolic parameters. The aim of our design was to evaluate the influence of Lys656Asn variant of Leptin receptor gene on weight loss and metabolic parameters secondary to a high protein/low carbohydrate vs. a standard hypocaloric diets. Design: A total of 280 obese subjects were randomly allocated to one of two diets during 9 months (Diet HP (high protein-low carbohydrate hypocaloric diet) and Diet S (standard protein hypocaloric diet)). Results: After both diets and in both genotypes, body mass index (BMI), fat mass, weight, systolic blood pressure and waist circumference decreased, without differences between both diets. With the diet type HP and in both genotypes, triglycerides decreased. In subjects with Lys656Lys genotype, glucose, insulin levels, HOMA-R, total cholesterol and LDLtotal cholesterol decreased after HP diet. No statistical changes were detected in Asn allele carriers. After diet S and in patients with Lys656Lys genotypes, only total cholesterol, triglycerides and LDLtotal cholesterol decreased, without changes in Asn allele carriers. Conclusion: Obese subjects with Asn656 allele have a different metabolic response than Lys656Lys genotype subjects, secondary to the same weight loss with two different hypocaloric diets.

Lipid Profile and Leptin Levels in Patients with Metabolic Syndrome

Abstract Background and Objective: Metabolic syndrome called a cluster of several metabolic disorders is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. Genetic differences in leptin receptor gene are related with the concentration and activity of leptin in that these discrepancies can influence lipid levels. We aimed to determine the association between the leptin receptor gene p...

C358A Polymorphism of the Endocannabinoid Degrading Enzyme Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolase (FAAH) Influence On Metabolic Parameters a High Protein/Low Carbohydrate versus a Standard Hypocaloric Diet

Background and aim: The C385A polymorphism of FAAH gene (rs324420C>A) has been associated with obesity. We investigate the role of this polymorphism on cardiovascular risk factors and weight loss secondary to a high protein/ low carbohydrate vs. a standard hypocaloric diets (1000 kcal/day) during 9 months. Methods: A sample of 284 subjects with obesity (body mass index (BMI) >30) was enrolled. ...

Genetic Variation in the Beta-3-adrenoreceptor Gene (trp64arg Polymorphism) and Their Influence on Anthropometric Parameters and Insulin Resistance after a High Protein/low Carbohydrate versus a Standard Hypocaloric Diet.

INTRODUCTION the Trp64Arg variant in Beta receptor has been reported to be associated with increased body weight and insulin resistance Objective: the aim of our study was to investigate the influence of polymorphism (rs 4994) in Beta-3-adrenergic receptor gene on metabolic response and weight loss in a medium-term intervention study secondary's to a high protein/low carbohydrate vs. a standard...

Effects of a high-protein/low carbohydrate versus a standard hypocaloric diet on adipocytokine levels and insulin resistance in obese patients along 9 months.

OBJECTIVE Recent dietary trials and observational studies have focused on the effects of diet on health outcomes such as improvement in levels of surrogate biomarkers. The aim of our study was to examine the changes in weight, adipocytokines levels and insulin resistance after a high-protein/low carbohydrate hypocaloric diet vs. a standard hypocaloric diet during an intervention of 9 months. ...

Serum Leptin concentration and some cardiovascular risk factors in response to aerobic exercise and weight loss diet in sedentary women

Introduction: Obesity is a complex disorder characterized by accumulation of excess adipose tissue. Discovery of the hormone Leptin is catalyzed the field of obesity research by demonstrating the existence of an afferent hormonal signal from adipose tissue to the central nervous system for regulation of body fat mass. The aim of this study was to assay serum Leptin concentration and some ...
